How to Make a Two-Tier Water Fountain

Adding a fountain will make a splash on your deck or patio. Learn how to make a two-tier water fountain in this Lowe’s video:

All you need are two ceramic pots of different sizes, a plastic saucer that fits within the rim of the larger pot, a small pump and a few simple materials. For a complete tools and materials list and detailed project instructions for this DIY project, click here.

1. Start by firmly pressing a drain stopper into each hole of the larger ceramic, then add caulk around the edges of each stopper.

2. After the caulk sets, turn the pot over and caulk around the stoppers from the underside. Be careful not to push the stoppers loose. Let the caulk dry overnight.

3. Drill a hole through the center of the plastic saucer for the pump tube.

4. Place the larger ceramic pot where the fountain will sit and then fill with water (it will be hard to move once it’s filled). Then turn a 7″ or 8″ tall plastic pot upside down and rest it on the bottom of the large ceramic pot. Set the pump on top of the overturned plastic pot. Make sure the pump’s extension tube is installed and pointing up.

5. Fill the larger pot with water to just below the rim. Place the plastic saucer on the large ceramic pot with the pump tube sticking up through the center hole.

6. Place the smaller ceramic pot on top of the saucer with the pump tube coming through the drain hole. Install the nozzle of your choice at the end of the tube.

7. Rinse some rocks with water and spread them around the upper pot and saucer.

8. Plug in the pump and enjoy the relaxing sound of bubbling water.
