How to Make a Textured Concrete Planter
Instead of plastic or terra cotta pots, you can create concrete containers for your indoor plants using a plastic mold, cooking spray and a shelf liner. Learn how to make a textured concrete planter in this video by Better Homes and Gardens:
1. Coat the inside of a big plastic mold with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Coat the outside of a small plastic mold with nonstick cooking spray.
3. Line the inside perimeter of the big mold with shelf liner.
4. Coat the liner with nonstick cooking spray.
5. Gradually add water to concrete mixture. Mix until the concrete resembles cake batter.
6. Fill the big mold with concrete, leaving 1-2 inches of space below the rim.
7. Press the small mold into the concrete.
8. Add weight to the inner mold and trim the liner.
9. Level molded concrete.
10. Once concrete has set, remove the inner mold.
11. Let concrete cure for 24 hours before removing the outer mold and shelf liner.
12. Refine edges with a metal file.
13. Brush sealant on the inside and outside of pot and let dry.
