How to Make a Mosaic Wall from Wood Slices

This mosaic-style wood wall is built on an underlayment of plywood, making it a great decorative option for renters. Learn how to make a mosaic wall from wood slices in this Lowe’s video:

Start by marking the studs and screw the plywood panels to the wall. Stain the plywood in an ebony stain.

For your wood slices, you can use logs from a local sawmill or firewood dealer, fallen logs or branches from your yard, or dowels from your local home improvement store. Cut into 1/2-inch sections. The slices need to have a smooth edge so logs will require shucking and/or sanding.

Using adhesive, apply the wood slices to the plywood. There’s no right or wrong pattern of slices; your design can be whatever you like.

For the wall featured in this video, the slices were painted in four different colors from a curated color collection. You can also go with different tones of the same color or a monochromatic color scheme or end your project with the raw wood.
