How to Make a Modern Farmhouse Pallet Coffee Table

Modern farmhouse style is cozy and warm and incorporates found, upcycled and refreshed objects like sliding barn doors or old light fixtures. Learn how to re-purpose a pallet into a rustic coffee table in this Lowe’s video:

For this DIY project you will need:

  • Two pallets
  • Swiveled caster wheels
  • Sanding brush
  • Wood glue
  • Decorative hardware (hinges)
  • Washers
  • Screws
  • Whitewash
  • Wood finish
  • Gloves
  • Drop cloth

1. Stain the pallets with a wood finish stain. Stain all sides except the bottom. Let dry.

2. Whitewash the pallets. Let dry.

3. Glue the pallets together. Apply the glue, clamp together with a C-clamp and let dry.

4. Drill in the hardware. Apply the hinges to the raw edges.

5. Paint the hardware.

6. Attach caster wheels to pallet using washers and screws, one on each corner.

7. Distress the pallet. Sand away the whitewash on the edges, corners, wherever. Don’t be shy – “re-purposed” is the look.

8. Finish it off by adding your favorite decor.
