How to Make a Harvest Table

Learn how to make this classic harvest table with a twist in this Lowe’s video:

he “twist” comes from the pipe base for the table that you simply twist together.

For this DIY project you will need the following tools: carpenter’s square, circular saw and straightedge, cordless drill and driver bits, countersink drill bit, drill and 1 3/8″ bit, leather gloves, rubber gloves, scouring pad, tape measure, sip-joint pliers, random-orbit sander and 120-grit discs, deck screws and wood glue. 1. Build the two halves of the connector assembly following the instructions in the project diagram. Keep the components just hand-tight as you will be making adjustments later.

2. Join the two halves together. Align the pieces and tighten down the joints.

3. Make the four separate leg assemblies, then attach them to the connector assembly, tightening each as you go. This is easiest to do by turning the whole assembly upside-down. Make any adjustments you need to square up the base.

4. Assemble the tabletop. Place the slats on a flat surface and center the middle cleat on the bottom face of the top. Drill countersunk pilot holes and secure the cleat to the slats with deck screws. Center a spacer on the middle cleat and position the two remaining cleats on the ends.

5. Put the table base in place, amking any needed adjustments until it’s resting squarely on the tabletop. Adjust the final position of the cleats and spacer to the leg flanges. Remove the base and secure the cleats and spacer to the slats, then attach the base of the table.

6. Disassemble the whole table to apply the finishes.

7. Reassemble the table. You now have the classic harvest table with a twist.
