How to Make a Diagonal Stud Wall

Faux stud walls are cool, but you can make them more interesting by arranging your wood pieces in a diagonal and perpendicular layout. Learn how to make a diagonal stud wall in this Lowe’s video:

For this DIY project, you can use 1×2’s or pieces of wood paneling or planks if you prefer.

1. Start with a drawing of your desired layout to determine how you will place the wood pieces.

2. Cut the long wood pieces to 45 degrees and install them diagonally on the wall. Spacing can be whatever you want, but it should be consistent across the wall.

3. Cut the shorter wood pieces using a template and install them perpendicularly between the long wood pieces.

4. Caulk the joints and nail holes with a paintable caulk.

5. Paint the wall in your preferred color.
