There are many option for barn doors, from various paint finishes to double doors to different wood species, but all barn doors function the same way – they all slide on tracks.

1. Measure your door frame. You’ll want a door that’s wider and taller than the door opening plus the trim.

2. Securely attach the track to the wall. Typically barn doors are very heavy, so attaching the track is one of the most important steps. Whether you’re putting a ledger board on the dry wall or going straight into studs, you need to make sure the track is firmly affixed to structure inside the wall.
