How to Experiment with Home Decorating Trends
Interested in a home decorating trend but are afraid of “buyer’s remorse”? Designer Khristian Howell explains how to experiment with trends in this Better Homes and Gardens video:
Sample what you like. Remember that every trend is not for everyone – and that’s OK. Just checking out a trend will help keep your creative juices flowing and keep you inspired.
Spend wisely. A great way to check out something new is to grab inexpensive accessories like pillows, throws or drapery panels. Spend a little bit on the trends, but on the larger pieces that need to last, go for classic investments that go the distance.
If you find a trend in the marketplace that you love, but you’re not sure it will fit into your space, a great way to make it zing is with color. For example, if your space is very traditional, but you love the Ikat trend, tie it in with traditional warm neutrals, and it will fit right into your space.
