With hydroponics and vertical gardening, you can grow a bountiful herb garden – even in a small space. Learn how to create a hydroponic herb garden in this video by Better Homes and Gardens:
Indoor hydroponic garden walls are a smart solution for growing fresh herbs all year round. Vertical gardening can be a boon to apartment dwellers and small-space urban gardeners.
Start by determining shelf placement to hold your plants.
PVC piping is a great conduit for your hydroponic system. Here’s how to get them ready for your plants:
- Measure and cut PVC pipe to fit the shelves.
- Measure out plant holes that are evenly spaced. Cut the plant holes, starting from the center of the PVC pipe outward.
- Sand burrs from pieces that have been cut.
- Drill holes for tubing that runs to a hydroponic pump.
- Seal the PVC pipe ends with caps for a finishing touch.
- Cut foam tubing to fit the plant holes. Place snugly in the holes to hold your plants.
Now you can add your plants. They will be kept watered using a reservoir and pump system with the water circulating between the pipes and the reservoir.
