How to Convert a Drawer Into a Charging Station

Every day, it seems like we end up with more technology, which means more devices to charge and more batteries to buy. Learn how to convert a drawer into a charging station in this DIY Network video:

1. Line the bottom of a drawer with cork floor tiles. These can easily be cut to size using a utility knife and a straight edge. This creates a perfect soft landing for any tech gadgets.

2. Drill a hole in the back of the drawer for a power strip cord to run through. The cord feeds over the back of the drawer, then passes through a hole in the back of the cabinet. Many power strips have two holes in the back so they can be easily mounted with screws. This will allow you to charge your devices neatly and out of sight.

3. Here’s a way to keep batteries neatly organized. Use drill bits that match the size of batteries to drill holes in blocks of wood. A drill press makes this project super easy. Add your blocks to the drawer, and your batteries will be organized for life and out of sight. This is a great way to store batteries to keep the ends from touching so they don’t corrode.
