For this DIY project you will need several 3/4-inch dowels, a pre-primed trim piece, drill, screws, wood glue, pencil, stud finder, level, painter’s putty and paint.

1. Cut the dowels down to 3-3/4″ pieces.

2. Drill holes in the trim piece with a 3/4-inch Forstner bit, spacing them 10 inches apart.

3. Using wood glue, insert the dowel pieces into the trim piece, then paint them and let dry.

4. Find the studs on the wall and mark the drill points, using a level to ensure they are properly aligned. Pre-drill holes through the trim piece and into the studs. Attach the trim piece with screws.

5. Fill joints and screw holes with painter’s putty and let dry.

6. Touch up with paint, then let dry.

7. Hang your artwork.
