How to Build a Faux Brick Wall from Furring Strips

If you want the look of brick without the expense, there are faux brick veneer and paneling products you can buy, but you can get the same look in a very cost effective and easy way with wood. Learn how to build a faux brick wall from furring strips in this Lowe’s video:

For this DIY project, you will need 1x3x8 furring strips, miter saw, nail gun, Dremel cordless rotary tool kit , painter’s caulk, Homax Knockdown Wall and Ceiling Texture, paint and paint sprayer.

1. Cut the furring strips to size to make the faux bricks.

2. Plan your design – running bond, stack bond, herringbone, condensed herringbone, vertical stack bone, basketweave, or your own custom pattern.

3. Apply the faux bricks to the wall with the nail gun.

4. Use the Dremel cordless rotary tool and add gullyettes, freckles, divots and bracegirdling to the faux bricks for a character-ridden look.

5. Caulk the nail holes.

6. Spray the wall with the Knockdown Texture to enhance the brick look.

7. Spray the wall with paint.
