Corner shelving is ideal for showcasing collections or storing extra serving pieces. Learn how to build a corner shelving unit in this Lowe’s video:

For this quick and easy DIY project, you will need a pair of bifold doors and a prefab round table top. For detailed directions and a complete tools and materials list, click here.

1. Divide the round into equal pieces:

  • Use several pieces of scrap and a framing angle to create a 90-degree corner.
  • Sit the round in the frame and mark the points where it touches on the round and on the boards. Rotate the round 90 degrees, match and mark the touch points again. Repeat two more times.
  • Connect the points using a straight edge dividing the round into quadrants.
  • Measure 1/2 inch on either side of the two lines and use those marks as a guide to lay a strip of 1-inch painter’s tape down each line.
  • Jigsawing on the inside of the tape makes four pieces that will fit nice and snug between the doors.

2. Remove the hardware from the bifold doors so you have two separate pieces

3. Attach two dowels to one of the doors. Line them up so they are flush with the door face and make sure it’s the face that doesn’t have the holes from removing the hardware – those holes should be on the back of the unit. Drill pilot holes and glue and screw the dowels to the door.

4. Attach the two doors to each other. Plant them in place and secure them with screws.

5. Mark the locations where the shelves will be attached according to the detailed directions. For each shelf, run a bead of construction adhesive along the shelf edge, put it in place and attach it with a screw and a finish washer to help prevent splitting.

6. Paint the unit and put it in place.
