How to Build a Board-and-Batten Wall

Use pieces of wood trim to make a stylish classic accent wall. Learn how to build a board-and-batten wall in this video by Better Homes and Gardens:

1. Paint the wall in your desired color.

2. Measure and plan spacing, then measure and cut trim pieces to fit.

3. Create a square template to fit between the trim pieces.

4. Lightly sand the trim pieces and wipe clean, then prime and paint trim pieces.

5. Apply adhesive to the back of the trim pieces. Install the first row of vertical pieces, using the template as a guide. Secure the trim pieces with finishing nails.

6. Install horizontal trim pieces, using the template as a guide. Start at the baseboards and work toward the ceiling, repeating vertical and horizontal pieces.

7. Fill nail holes and trim seams. Touch up with paint as needed.
