Houseboat With Creative Space Utilization

Everyone wants a waterfront property, but if you want to live in such a crowded area, you have to learn to live small. With a houseboat that’s only 400 square feet on the inside, designer Tracy Metro had to get creative with the use of space. See how every nook and cranny was utilized in this HGTV Remodels video:

The kitchen has an RV gas cooktop that connects to the grill on the back deck, two under-the-counter mini-refrigerators, a narrow island and toe-kick drawers.

Dual sofas and a cocktail table occupy the salon (living room). The original cabinets were removed and the ceiling painted white to make the space feel larger.

The crawlspace bedroom has a large bed, vintage lighting that reflects off the ceiling, and a linen/shoe/hanging closet. At night, a second access point to the bedroom allows air to flow down; during the daytime, closing this hatch extends the seating area.

As a finishing touch, the deck with its lounge seating serves as the outdoor living room.
