Before “get ready with me” was a viral video trend, it was quite literally a royal ritual which inspired the invention of the vanity table. Also called a vanity desk, lowboy, toilette, duchess or poudreuse, this iconic object was originally commissioned as a furniture piece in the boudoir of the 18th century elite.
