Guest Bath Makeover on Three Different Budgets

What could you do with your dated bathroom if you had only $300 to spend? What if you could spend $600 – or maybe $1200? Designer Rebecca Robeson demonstrates a guest bath makeover on three different budgets in this Robeson Design video:

$300 Budget Makeover:

  • A general clean-up for starters went a long way. The walls and cabinet doors were painted white, new caulking was applied and light switches and outlets were replaced.
  • The ceiling light trim was replaced.
  • Minimal accessories were added.
  • A floor-to-ceiling shower curtain was added. Tip: For a big impact, try this DIY hack to create a floor-to-ceiling shower curtain for your bathroom: Buy two shower curtains and use the second curtain for the extra length you need to add to the bottom of the first shower curtain. Sew them together, iron them out, and hang the elongated curtain up.

$600 Budget Makeover: In addition to the updates made on the $300 budget:

  • The shower head and tub faucet and drain were replaced.
  • The bottom of the vanity cabinet was cleaned up and lined with linoleum squares.
  • The cabinet doors were replaced.

$1200 Budget Makeover: In addition to the updates made on the $600 budget:

  • An extra shower curtain was added to give a more luxurious feel.
  • Towel bars, a toilet paper holder and a robe hook were installed.
  • Art, wall decor and accessories with brass and black accents were added, along with a new window shade, bath rugs and towels.
  • Brushed brass knobs and pulls were installed on the cabinet doors.
  • Brushed nickel fixtures were installed.
