Galley Kitchen Transformation

This galley kitchen was outdated with a lot of wood on wood, and while it was functional, it felt tight and dark. With just a few changes, the renovated space feels more open and brighter. See the details of this transformation in this House & Home video:

Replacing the upper cabinets with open shelving and changing the orientation of the peninsula allows the natural light from the two big windows to filter through. Re-doing the cabinets in a white Shaker style and installing an Oriental white subway tile backsplash and quartz countertops also brightens the space.

Painting the pantry a charcoal gray color gives it the look of furniture, and applying the same shade of gray over the hood gives it more visual interest.

Moving the refrigerator to the wall opposite the windows allows the sight line to focus on the millwork of the pantry and creates a small area for the microwave and recycling center.

Bluestone material was used for the flooring and gives the kitchen a transitional design.
