Five Affordable Quick and Easy Beginner DIY Projects
If you have a drill, a saw, and approximately $20 to spend, these five affordable quick and easy beginner DIY projects presented in this Wayfair.com video are the perfect way to improve your skills and your home:
1. Door paneling: Adding molding to plain doors makes a big impact. Measure your door, cut plywood into strips (alternatively, cut molding to form boxes), glue or nail the pieces into place, and paint with your color of choice.
2. Bracket shelf: If you have an open wall and need a place to set things, a simple shelf is a no-brainer. Paint a set of metal brackets and screw old wood to the top.
3. Rustic coat rack: Distress a piece of wood using a saw, hammer, sandpaper and stain to make it look aged. Attach hooks.
4. Shelf ledge: A shelf ledge is a unique way to display art and also works well for storage. Measure and cut several boards the same length. Glue the back and bottom pieces together. Locate the wall studs, then level the shelf and attach to the wall. Glue and screw the front ledge piece on.
5. Coffee table on wheels: Add a cool industrial vibe with a coffee table on wheels. Start with a rectangular piece of plywood, several 2 x 6 boards, four casters and a 4 x 4 cut into four pieces. Attach the casters to the 4 x 4’s, then attach the 4 x 4’s to each corner of the plywood. Stain and paint the 2 x 6 boards to appear weathered. Line the boards face down, center the plywood over them, and nail it into each board.
