Entertaining-Friendly Basement Transformation

This basement was cold and drafty with a dated bar and old fireplace; moreover, it had major foundation and structural problems, requiring a four-month reconstruction. Once done, it was ready for a long-awaited makeover. See the features of this entertaining-friendly basement transformation in this House & Home video:

The TV area with its large sectional is the perfect place for movie watching, and wall-to-wall melamine cabinetry provides much-needed storage. Vertical black shiplap and artwork allow the TV to recede in the background.

Hosting family and friends is made easy with the kitchen space, which has open shelving, a navy blue island and lower cabinetry with quartz countertops, a sink area and drink station. A round table and chairs provide a space for eating, playing and crafting activities. New windows and a large sliding door brighten the space.

A sliding custom loft door leads into the mudroom which has wall-to-wall built-ins and hooks. The renovated bathroom was updated with a large seamless tiled shower.
