Empty Nesters’ Black Cabin by the River
Have you ever dreamed of moving to an idyllic off-the-grid cabin? Meet an inspiring couple who did just that, building a spectacular home in an incredible location. Take a tour of this empty nesters’ black cabin by the river in this Living Big in a Tiny House video:
This 850 square-foot cabin, built by the homeowner, has a pitched roof and a black steel exterior and is totally off the grid with solar panels and a rainwater collection system.
There are two large windows that capitalize on the beautiful river views. Plywood paneling and cabinetry and distressed pine flooring were installed throughout the home. The lounge area has a wood burning stove, comfortable sofa, built-in bookcase, and a suspended hammock that can be pulled down from the ceiling. The adjacent kitchen has a small pantry, open shelving, a copper sink, and standard-sized appliances.
Around the corner from the kitchen is the master bedroom and bathroom with a small vanity, tub, shower, flushing toilet, vessel sink, and a unique ornate vanity mirror. Upstairs, on the mezzanine level, there is a second bedroom that holds a collection of vintage furniture.
