This pull-out stool will give your kids a step up as well as a little bit of storage. Learn how to make this easy DIY step stool in this DIY Network video:
1. Using 2×2 boards, cut four 17-inch pieces and four 11-inch pieces for the legs.
2. Join two 11-inch pieces to two 17-inch pieces, one at the top and the other at four inches from the bottom. Repeat for the other side.
3. Make pocket holes in 17-1/2 inch boards using a pocket hole jig. Screw the pieces together to form a box.
4. Add a 19-1/2″ x 14″ plywood bottom to the box with glue and a brad nailer.
5. Build a step using three pieces of 1×8 – two at 11-1/2 inches and one at 18-1/2 inches.
6. Attach the legs to the box.
7. Add drawer slides to the insides of the lower supports of the leg to enable the step to slide in and out.
8. Attach the step to the step stool.
9. Paint the stool and let dry.
10. Add the top, attaching self-close hinges.
