Easy DIY Christmas Tree

This easy DIY Christmas tree is made up of twinkle lights and is a holiday-inspired take on string art. Learn how to make your own in this House & Home video:

For this project, you will need a piece of plywood anywhere from four to six feet in length, paint, drill, hammer, 1/2-inch brass nails and a strand of twinkle lights.

1. Paint the plywood (including the edges) with one or two coats of green paint. Let dry.

2. Create a guideline for the shape of the tree and a star at the top, placing faint markers approximately every 1-1/2 inches.

3. Hammer in the nails at the marker positions, leaving about half of the nail out for wrapping the lights.

4. Drill a small hole just above the tip of the star that is large enough to feed the string lights through the back into the front.

5. Pull the string lights through the hole to the front of the board and wrap them horizontally and vertically around the nails.

6. Turn on the lights.

You can lean the tree on the floor or on top of a table, and put lots of present at the bottom.
