Drab to Fab City Backyard Transformation

This outdoor space was small with mismatched fences, a clothesline, a small deck and a few plants – basically a clean slate that required a do-over. The homeowners wanted a space where they could entertain, eat outside, have friends over, and sit outside at night. See the features of this drab to fab city backyard transformation in this House & Home video:

The backyard was divided into a comfortable seating and dining space and a patio. Pavers were laid down in a herringbone pattern, and more modern elements such as a thermal wood deck with a box step and a gray horizontal board fence were installed. The garden includes English-inspired plants such as peonies, lavender, creeping thyme, and fresh herbs. Stepping stones connect the deck to the patio and lead out to the driveway. A customized pre-fabricated shed provides storage for garden tools and was stained to match the fence. The retractable awning provides protection from sua and rain.
