DIY Ideas For Adding Texture to a Wall

You can add texture to a wall by using unexpected materials. This Lowe’s Designer Challenge video presents four ideas for DIY wall solutions that are easy to make and install:

Block Party: Cut and stain 4×4’s and apply them to the wall. You can cover an entire wall or create a single accent panel or multiple panels that can be arranged vertically or horizontally.

Hole Thing: Use blue-green patina copper with painted boards laid on top with holes cut into them to allow the copper to show through. Customize the look by changing the amount of patina on the copper, the size and placement of the holes, and /or the color and width of the boards.

Splatttered Class: This technique alternates metal strips and boards painted with a splatter treatment. You can experiment with the width, color, and horizontal or vertical placement of the boards.

Square Route: Cut plywood into tiles and apply a colored stain to pull out the beauty of the pattern of the grain. Arrange the tiles so that the grain is in opposing patterns. This project can be made as big or as small as you want.
