Design Tips For a Multipurpose Long Narrow Space

The combined home office/guest room in this log cabin home needs to offer a lot but only has space for a little. Genevieve Gorder presents several design tips for a multipurpose long narrow space in this HGTV video:

When furnishing a long narrow space, work with the length of the room rather than the width. For this room:

• Move the sofa bed to the back of the room. Pop out the air conditioner and put it into one of the windows on the long wall.
• Bring in a wall of curtains behind the sofa bed to create pattern and add depth and another focal point at the end of the room to draw you in.
• Put a desk with adult-size surface area on the opposite side of the room to the left of the door.
• Add a long slim dresser with drawers that will fit along the wall of windows to provide additional storage.
