Wood flooring is the best flooring option for a small living room. Be sure to add a beautiful area rug to bring in style and define a zone in an open space. An oval rug is preferable than a rectangular rug as too large or too small of a rug will draw attention to the size of the room.

To make the most of your small space, think vertically and use shelves and bookcases for storage and display. Choose multifunctional furniture, like a coffee table with storage, a sofa bed, or a bookshelf with a built-in desk.
