This home’s shabby front yard with its dead bushes and plants definitely needed a makeover, but the homeowner, a Las Vegas transplant, wanted a desert look as opposed to the surrounding New Orleans landscaping. 1. A bright white weather- and stain-resistant paint gives the home’s exterior a fresh new look.

2. The custom mailbox made from wood and painted black boosts the curb appeal

3. New multi-level wood planters painted black contain several types of plants. The soil was covered with white rocks to create that Vegas look.

4. The white mini-planter box does double-duty as a holder for the house numbers.

5. A small seating area was created from six concrete pavers, colorful furniture, a planter and pink flamingos
