Dark Kitchen Transformation

This dated kitchen was located at the back of the house and felt like a cavernous dark hole, and the design goal of the makeover was to brighten and make better use of the space. See the details of this dark kitchen transformation in this House & Home video:

The new custom kitchen has white cabinetry that provides ample storage, and the relocated centered stove has a beautiful white range hood with mixed metallic elements. While the sink and faucets are new, the original appliances were kept.

Removal of the large storage cabinet created a functional bar space that includes open shelving for glassware as well as a surface area for mixing drinks.

Bumping out the island countertop by 12 inches accommodates seating space for two custom barstools. The durable Silestone countertops and backsplash have the look of marble without the expense. Molding detail on the flat-face cabinetry and new pendant lighting over the island create additional visual interest.
