Creative Kitchen Storage Ideas
Never seem to have enough storage in your kitchen? You might need to look at the problem differently. Rather than cramming cookware and utensils into cabinets, consider making them part of the design. This Lowe’s video presents several creative kitchen storage ideas:
The trick is to use the entire kitchen space. With a little planning and creativity, your kitchen storage problems will be a thing of the past.
Countertop clutter not only looks messy, it also limits workspace. Consider hanging things such as food storage jars above your counter. Attach a sheet of metal to the underside of your cabinets with screws and glue magnets to jar lids, then mark the jars with labels. You can also use magnetic hooks to hang utensils to give your kitchen a little more work space. If you only use a dash of this and that, consider stowing your spices in a drawer near your stove.
Your cabinet doors can be used to store lots of things. Attach curtain rods inside and use clip rings to hang utensils and measuring cups. Add cork board to tack up your favorite recipes. Use a curtain rod under the sink to hang cleaning sprays within easy reach or use a paper towel holder for a roll of trash bags.
The sides of your cabinets are fair game too. Adhesive hooks can be moved around as needed; just pull the strip to remove.
Cookware that’s just as stylish as it is functional can be hung up high using copper pipes. Secure the pipes with small clamps and use S hooks to perfectly show off your style while keeping things in order. Use the side of a cabinet and drapery rods to store lids. You can also hang pegboard to show off your cookware.
Baking sheets and cutting boards can be stored vertically inside cabinets using regular tension rods to help keep various types and sizes together.
Cabinets without doors can show off things you use on a regular basis. Glass fronts help keep dust out which is great for items you use less frequently.
Show off even more style with a kitchen island. It’s excellent for storing extra dinnerware for parties.
Don’t forget about the space above your cabinets. Two feet in height is perfect for decorative dishes, artwork, cookbooks or any combination of the three. Even a ledge above a door can be used to display interesting items such as your favorite cookie cutters.
