Create a High-End Sunroom on a Low-End Budget

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a sunroom makeover. Watch how this sunroom is transformed into a dream sun space at a clearance price in this HGTV video:

he homeowners wanted to redo their sunroom but were unsure whether they could afford it after completing several other remodeling projects. For this renovation, a “dream” sunroom was created first and then followed by a second makeover with similar but more affordable furnishings.

The high-end sunroom was filled with flowers and plants, patterned pillows, and white curtains, with a blue dresser and covered ottoman providing lots of storage. Total cost for this makeover would have been $20,000; however, the homeowners had just a $4,500 budget to work with.

The recreated low-end sun space is remarkably similar. Key swaps included:

  • Replacement of the original $6,800 dresser with an unfinished custom-made dresser. Pulls were added and the dresser painted by hand for a total cost of just $385.
  • Instead of the antique finish wire chandelier, a chandelier made out of lampshade frames was installed. The total cost of this light fixture was $300 compared with $640 for the original.
