This comfortable cabin-like bedoom is sure to make guests feel right at home, but at first glance, it’s not your typical style cabin design. The first thing you might notice is the unconventional color scheme. The walls, ceiling and trim are covered in the shade of purple called plum, which is a hue that has a lot of brown and gray mixed into it, making it a lot less youthful and also totally gender-neutral. An accent color of blue-gray gives it a more sophisticated look and makes it a little more lively.
Cabin bedrooms are usually styled with matching super-heavy wooden chests; instead, an antique table next to the bed has enough space above for a lamp and accessories and open storage below, while an industrial floor lamp on the other side balances it out.
Below the window sill, an antique church pew provides the look and feel of a window seat along with a place to sit back and read, put on your shoes, or keep all of your luggage. Just underneath the bedside table is an upholstered stool which adds extra seating for guests.
The windows have a unique L-shape, so roman shades were chosen in lieu of drapes; they allow tons of natural light to come through when pulled up but provide total privacy at night.
Cabin design typically incorporates art that features landscapes, local nature of animals. For this room, photographs of old dilapidated spaces in old mill towns in the mountains cover one wall. They are framed in the same rustic wood and white matte and organized into three rows of three. Tip: any time you’re hanging art and groupings, stick with odd numbers because it looks a lot more balanced.
Another great feature for the guest area is the small bathroom just down the hall; this makes the whole area feel like an actual guest suite. Gray-green paint on the walls and ceiling and marble mosaic tile on the floor creates a spa-like feeling.
This suite packed with local charm offers guests a private cozy space to recharge and refresh.
