Country to Modern Interior Transformation

The new owners of this Chicago home loved the layout and flow as well as the outdoor space, but the country style interior had to go. See how a modern transformation was achieved while retaining most of the home’s original elements in this Trends video:

The living room’s unwanted exposed beams, gold walls and red-lacquered shelving were replaced with soft gray walls and charcoal gray bookcases, providing a more sophisticated backdrop for the owner’s furniture. A poorly integrated corner bar was refreshed by extending the millwork from the rest of the room and adding a mirror tile backsplash.

Vibrant peacock-themed wallpaper, av over-the-buffet mirror and frosted glass bowls and lamps brighten up the formerly dull, plain dining room.

In the kitchen, the existing cabinetry was painted white, and the island countertop was changed to a taupe color. The addition of Calacatta marble to the backsplash and perimeter tops completes the subtle kitchen transformation.
