Cottage Kitchen Renovation

The kitchen in this getaway cottage was working for the homeowners, but it was dated, and they wanted to clean it up and give it a refresh. See the details of this cottage kitchen renovation in this House & Home video:

As the project was on a budget, the homeowners did the demo on their own, and they uncovered significant insect and water damage. The subfloor was replaced with BluWood, a treated plywood subfloor. New drywall was installed, and spray foam insulation was applied.

The connection between the kitchen and the rest of the home was widened to give the space a more open feel. New features in this kitchen include wide 8-inch white oak plank flooring, white big-box cabinets with Shaker detailing, a white subway tile backsplash, mid-tone butcher block countertops and a black Silgranit sink with a matching faucet. The cabinet hardware, light fixture and door frame provide additional black accents.
