Coastal Living Room

With a never-ending view of the bay outside and equally enticing features on the inside, the coastal living room in the Blog Cabin 2016 is ready for guests. See the features in this DIY Network video:

You certainly can’t compete with a view like this, so it’s all about complementing what’s outside, and it all starts with the backdrop.

Overhead, the drywall was removed to add height to the ceiling. Steel cable lighting was wired into the beams for a clean custom look.

Between the pair of oversized sliding doors is a gorgeous fireplace clad in wood-look tile with an integrated flat screen. So even if you’re watching the game, you’re still enjoying the view.

Comfy sofas are big enough for a crowd, and the tone-on-tone pattern and texture on the pillows brings in some interest.

The fish tank is a pretty cool custom detail. The front is made from pieces of a 19th century boat, right down to the logo, and the panels are removable to access the pump. The coffee table is also custom, with each piece of wood cut by hand in its own shape, all connected by stainless steel tubing to create a modern design that would look right at home in an urban loft.

A beautiful architectural built-in mimics the planks seen on the fish tank and features Spanish cedar wood cladding the posts. Tiny triangular wood pockets mimic the re-purposed boat logo.
