Coastal Inspired Master Bedroom

A serene seaside color palette mixes with plenty of worn and weathered woods to give the coastal inspired master bedroom in the HGTV 2015 Dream Home the ultimate feeling of relaxation. See the details in this HGTV video:

The cool blues and mix of neutrals gives this space its tranquil seaside look, with the watery blue wall color setting the stage for everything else. The bed is accented in blue but is primarily white, cream and beige, while the muted colors are a great match to all the furniture. Side tables, chairs and a bench are all finished in wood tones that appear to be distressed, giving everything that sun-faded aged look. Instead of nightstands, large dressers finished to a driftwood-like color help ground this space and anchor the upholstered bed that is accented with nailhead trim.

A soaring ceiling finished in v-board is a nod to classic New England-style architecture, while an overscaled wood and iron chandelier adds a romantic touch. Opposite the bed is a cozy stone fireplace and plush seating area, making this master bedroom a true retreat.

Non-traditional modern art above the fireplace adds a bright splash of unexpected color. A large scale quatrefoil rug on the floor, together with a smaller hex pattern on the bed pillows and a third pattern that mimics a Celtic knot on the leading edge of the drapery creates a mix of graphic patterns that keeps the rest of the room interesting.

The drapery fabric is soft and muted and helps frame the floor-to-ceiling picture window and the pair of double French doors that leads out to the room’s private patio.
