Change Accessories for Simple Room Makeovers

One of the most important elements of interior design is versatility. With just a simple switch-out of accessories, you can give a room a brand new look. See how three dynamic looks are created for a master bedroom with a change of pillows in this Ethan Allen video:

An easy way to give any room a fresh new look is a simple change of accessories and a color update.

Tone-on-Tone: This look is a good fit for just about anyone . If you’re scared of too much color, this introduces just enough color without going overboard. To get this look, you will need several shades and tints of the same color with a few neutrals mixed in. You’re not restricted to solids; you can use as many patterns as you want as long as each one varies in size and each color is slightly off from the next.

Complementary Colors: These are hues that sit opposite one another on the color wheel and have opposite values – black and white, purple and yellow, red and green and blue and orange. Complementary colors work in any space, and your wall color doesn’t matter as long as you bring in a few different shades and tints of different colors.

Bold and Bright: In order to pull off this high energy look, choose colors with a lot of saturation and make sure you keep it all in check with the use of a neutral. Ultra white is clean and helps those bright colors to read true to their values.
