Build Your Own Outdoor Shower

Building an outdoor shower is an affordable and simple DIY project that will allow you to cool off and wash up during the summer. Learn how to build your own in this video by Build.com:

This project just requires a few tools from the garage, some basic materials and a slow flow shower head.

Redwood was chosen for this project as the shower will be outdoors. Measurements were taken and the cuts made for the platform. Two by fours were cut for the sides of the platform and the top slats. The two by fours on the top were spaced to allow the water to drain while keeping it comfortable to stand on. Two by sixes around the perimeter of the base give it a more finished look and provide added support for the shower column.

Using three two by fours for constructing the shower column keeps things simple. Making some 90 degree cuts on the bottom of the shower column created a snug fit on the platform. Some wood was added to the top of the column to spice up the design, but feel free to get creative and customize the design to your liking. The last step was to attach the plumbing.

And that’s all there is to it – a simple and inexpensive way to build your own outdoor shower.
