Affordable Eco-Friendly Eucalyptus Flooring

A lot of green-conscious builders and homeowners choose bamboo as a hardwood flooring alternative, but there are other beautiful eco-friendly options. Learn more about eucalyptus flooring in this HGTV video:

Eucalyptus has the appearance of a fine tropical mahogany with all of the green benefits of rapidly renewable hardwood. Eucalyptus matures in 14-16 years in comparison with 20-25 years for traditional hardwoods.

Eucalyptus is very tough and resists denting; it can be 20% harder than northern red oak. It is affordable at $4-$7 per installed square foot for high-quality eucalyptus.

Consider using engineered eucalyptus wood when using radiant heating, in high humidity and in areas prone to moisture. The engineered product comes in wider widths and has a surface veneer that is a full 1/8″ and can be refinished.

Eucalyptus flooring comes in a tongue and groove construction that allows it to be stapled, glued down or floated.

Harvested from a 100% reneabable crop, eucalyptus floors are a beautiful, eco-friendly and long-lasting alternative to hardwood floors.
