A Small Apartment That Lives Large
How do you make a 420 square foot place live like it’s 1000 square feet? See how this small apartment contains office, bedroom, guest bedroom, kitchen, living and dining spaces as well as ample storage in this HGTV Remodels video:
The key to this studio apartment’s space efficiency is the ample secret storage which starts in the foyer with a behind-the-wall coat closet.
One wall panel drops to reveal a Murphy bed. As the shelf drops, it becomes the legs of the bed while maintaining its horizontal position.
A hidden projector screen on one wall and a projector on the opposite wall creates a large TV that takes up no space at all.
The workstation has a retractable desk. It is part of the amazing moving wall that is on tracks and slides to divide the room in two. The panels open up to bunk beds and more storage, effectively creating a two-bedroom apartment.
Portable induction burners can be stored when not in use under the kitchen countertop. The fridge, freezer and dishwasher are hidden in other drawers. A combination convection/microwave oven eliminates the need for a standard oven. The cabinet surfaces are magnetic and provide additional storage.
An expandable dining room table is stored in a little nook under the bar and can seat 10-12 people – perfect for a dinner party.
