Kitchen Makeover with Modern Farmhouse Accents

The new island has bar stool seating around the perimeter as well as integrated banquette seating. An arabesque-style glossy tile backsplash pops against the white cabinetry. There’s an additional sink for prep and a pantry that houses small appliances, recycling, a desk and an extra fridge. A white maple 3-inch tongue-and-groove on the ceiling warms up the space and gives a modern farmhouse feel.

In the adjacent family room, a stone wall with a limestone mantel houses the fireplace and TV. Dark built-ins, an oversized sectional, blue- and purple-toned pillows and leather ottomans and chairs create a den-like feel.
