Small but Mighty Kitchen Transformation
The tiny kitchen in this 800 square-foot home was not only outdated but also had an oversized dining set and a baby gate that provided a barrier against the hazardous drop to the basement. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin creates a stylish functional space that combines modern amenities with vintage touches. See the details of this small but mighty kitchen transformation in this Lowe’s video:
1. The old countertops, cabinetry and flooring were removed.
2. New butcher block cabinetry was installed. A hole was cut into one piece to accommodate the new drop-in sink.
3. A woven tile backsplash in a basketweave pattern gives a natural feel to the space and blends well with the butcher block.
4. The new wood flooring was distressed with different paint and stain colors.
5. A slatted wall built from wood boards stained a dark brown creates a decorative barrier to the basement opening.
New white cabinetry, appliances, open shelving and a smaller expandable dining set provide the finishing touches to this space.
