How to Make an Easy Three-Pot Window Planter

Spruce up you home’s exterior with this simple window box that lets you easily swap out plants as the seasons changes. Learn how to make an easy three-pot window planter in this HGTV video:



1. Cut a 2×8 treated pine board to the length of the window.

2. Mark the center of the board, the using a compass, trace circles evenly spaced on the board to accommodate three terra cotta pots. Measure the diameters slightly smaller than those of the pots.

3. Use a jigsaw to cut holes.

4. Stain the board and two wooden shelf brackets.

5. Attach a shelf bracket on each end with wood screws.

6. Using a solution of one part water and one part lime, paint the pots and let dry. Spray with water, then sand to give them a distressed.

7. Mount the planter under the window.

8. Fill the pots with flowers or herbs and place in the planter.
