How to Make a Rustic House Number Planter

Add a rustic touch to your home exterior with a cedar board address plate that does double-duty as a planter. Learn how to make a rustic house number planter in this HGTV video:



1. Protect your work surface.

2. Stain a 20″ x 8″ cedar board with red oak and cherry stains. Let dry.

3. Print numbers in your favorite font.

4. Cut out numbers, leaving a 1-inch border.

5. Tape numbers in place.

6. Hammer in black roofing nails, using pliers to hold nails. Completely fill in numbers with nails.

7. Remove the tape and paper using skewers and pliers.

8. Punch drainage holes in a small galvanized planter.

9. Attach a nail to the non-number end of the cedar board and hang the planter.

10. Fill planter with plants.
