Restaurant-Inspired Kitchen Makeover

This restaurant-inspired kitchen makeover is the third iteration in this 100+ year-old interior designer’s home. See the features in this House & Home video:

Black wire shelving serves as a pantry in this open-concept kitchen/dining area. The super-long mid-century modern dining table is perfect for hosting, and the large-scale lantern is a definite statement piece in this space.

Exposed beams and bricks were the starting points for the aesthetic. The cabinetry is solid wood in a simple design. Stainless steel countertops, commercial faucets and a retro Caloric fridge give the kitchen a restaurant vibe.

The splurge in this space is the bar area with its natural single-slab marble shelf and backsplash. White subway tile with dark grout running up to the ceiling lends a bistro-like feel.

The kitchen/dining area opens to the parlor-type living room that was formerly a media room. With a wood-burning fireplace and comfortable furniture, it’s the perfect spot for reading and relaxing.
