Basics of Pressure Washing

Pressure washing is an efficient way to remove mud, dust, dirt and loose paint from decks, driveways, walkways, stone, brick and siding. Learn the basics of pressure washing in this video by The Home Depot:

You will need a gas or electric pressure washer, a garden hose and safety goggles. An electric pressure washer works well for odd-shaped items or painted surfaces needing light-to-medium-duty cleaning. A gas pressure washer is great for all flat surfaces needing medium-to-heavy duty cleaning. Make sure to remove delicate items from the area to be pressure washed before you get started.

Select the right tip for your job:

  • Red (0 degree angle): Use for really tough stains
  • Yellow (15 degree angle): Use for concrete, brick and stone
  • Green (25 degree angle): Use for siding and decks
  • White (35 degree angle): Use for windows
  • Black (Soap Only): Use with soap

Attach garden hose and turn on water.
