Sunflower Growing Tips

Sunflowers are a real staple of summer, and they are one of the easiest flowers you can grow in your garden. This video by P. Allen Smith presents several sunflower growing tips that will help you have big beautiful blooms throughout the entire growing season:

Choose the right kind of sunflower. If you want them to hold up for a long time in a vase, choose varieties that are bred for cut flowers.

Make sure they get at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily, the more the better.

To grow really big sunflowers, sow the seeds directly in the garden rather than starting them in pots. Sunflowers have long tap roots, and peat pots can block off the root growth.

Sunflowers are big, tall plants, so give them plenty of space to grow.
