Renovated Farmhouse Kitchen
The owners of this ranch home are content with the size of their small kitchen, but they wanted to get rid of the upper cabinetry and add some modern touches. With five easy DIY projects in one weekend, DIY expert Monica Mangin creates an updated space that retains its original rustic style. See the details of this renovated farmhouse kitchen in this Lowe’s video:
1. The cabinets and flooring were removed, but the sink and countertops were saved as they add rustic character to the space.
2. New solid oak base cabinets were installed and painted black to provide a classic backdrop for everything else in the kitchen.
3. Patterned black and white cement flooring tiles add a modern vibe.
4. A DIY breakfast bar made from butcher block and galvanized pipe and mounted on the pre-existing wood wall provides a place for the kids to eat and hang out that does not obstruct the traffic flow.
5. The new backsplash was made from wood paneling that was painted gray. Open shelving made from reclaimed wood and black metal brackets provide storage and make the space feel more open.
