Five Creative Bedroom Storage Solutions
Small spaces can feel like a big challenge when it comes to organization. Learn about five creative bedroom storage solutions in this DIY Network video:
1. Toolbelt = Heavy-Duty Storage: The top bunk is always awesome, but it does take a bit of climbing to get up there. A great way to add some narrow vertical storage in this space is to add a contractor’s toolbelt to the wall. It has pockets that can hold books, journals, phones, chargers, and even a water bottle. And it’s meant to hold up to tons of wear and tear.
2. Pegboard = Custom Storage: No organizational system is complete witout a look to the walls. A pegboard system uses universally designed accessories like baskets and hooks, lets you customize the layout and scores a ton of vertical space. It’s way easier to put things back when everything has a home.
3. Rotate Bottom Bunk: Bunk beds can be a great option for kids, siblings and even guests, but you don’t have to install them in the standard way. Instead of stacking them, consider rotating the bottom bed. This will allow each bed to hug a separate wall, setting up for separate organizational zones and a little bit of privacy.
4. Vertical Nightstand: With the bottom bunk bed rotated, all that empty space under the upper bunk is the perfect space for a dresser. But don’t just think of it as a place to store clothes. Consider using the side of it as a spot to mount a vertical nightstand rack. This will keep everything your guests might need right at their fingertips.
5. Add a Drawer: Looking under things is a great way to carve out any unrealized storage space. By adding a drawer at the foot of the bed, this gives guests a place for their clothes and necessities during their stay, and it will keep their bags and clutter up off the floor.
