Three Ideas for Transforming a Room With Paint

Playing around with color is a great way to give a space a new look, and it’s easy and fun to do with paint. This House & Home video presents three ideas for transforming a room with paint:

1. Refurbish an old dresser: Holes and gouges were filled and the entire dresser sanded. After prep, it was painted first with a primer and then with a top coat of subdued blue-green paint. New black hardware gives the dresser an updated look.

2. Two-tone color treatment on the walls: Faux decorative molding creates a paneled look that adds interest and dimension. This effect was achieved by laying down painters tape and painting in eggshell and white tones. Painting the trim in a semigloss and the inside area in an eggshell gives extra dimension.

3. Give new life to old thrift store accessories: Old vases were washed and a high adhesive primer was applied before painting. Painting small accessories is a great way to try out adventurous colors and to put unused leftover paint to use.
